Join Me in My Journey!!!!

So it seems the thing to do it BLOG.......so I thought I would give it a shot!!!! So if you have reading...yeah....I have at least one person interested! OK to the point of this blog......

Well, I recently retired from being a professional Heptathlete about a month ago and I am beginning graduate school in 2 weeks! (if you have no idea what the Heptathlon...google it!) I competed professionally 2 1/2 years out of college. Track and been a HUGE part of my life for a very long time and will continue to be as my Identical twin, 2008 Olympian, continues her career. However, it was my time to move on and I left the sport with a body in shape. The last thing I want to do is let myself get out of shape!! So coming from parents who have run several marathons and competed in Ironman triathlons.....it gave me the idea.....I want to train for a marathon.

Now, keep in mind that I have trained as a sprinter for many many years and athletes like me have scowled at the thought of a run over 10 minutes. However, I am one of the few.....granted very slowly paced....LOVED the opportunity to run with amazing musics streaming into my ears and around a lake by-passing fellow runners oozing the "runners high." There is no better way to start the day.

My recent retirement and a body in decent shape I have set a goal to run a marathon in April!!!!!! I have many challenges facing me as I begin this endeavor....I am living in Kansas and am faced with the harsh reality of winter....I have no idea how to train distance....and the only distance "race" I have done is the Turkey Trot 8 miler.

This blog is here for me to share my challenges, excitements, thoughts etc..... I would love feedback on others stories and possibly some tips :-)

The goal is to blog everyday.....including rest days....anyone that wants to join me in my journey PLEASE DO! I would love to have you!
